About Our Sheepskins

Soft. Supple. Luxurious. Heirlooms. Our sheepskins are sourced from sheep born and raised on our farm. We also buy raw hides from sheep raised on other local farms - hides that would otherwise be composted or thrown in a landfill as a by-product of slaughtering the animal for meat. When we bring our own lambs in for slaughter we make sure to bring home the hide as well as the meat.  We salt the hides with sodium chloride (aka: table salt!). Once properly salt-cured we bring the hides to a wonderful tannery in Vermont where Derek the Tanner uses a combination of man-power, specialized tree bark and water to finish the process. Our finished luxury sheepskins contain no harsh chemicals or heavy metals. Each one is combed by hand. Each one is unique.
