Hey, hey! Come to the Hancock Town Library and meet Mabel, Ida and Burrito! Born March 29, they were an unexpected and bittersweet surprise from our beloved Jennie who passed on March 30. We’ve been caring for her babies - in the house! - and our goal is to socialize them as potential therapy sheep! We are following in the footsteps of Hancock’s own @kin_schilling and hope to reintroduce “walking sheep” to Norway Hill and beyond! 💖

I think these two photos and the look in Hugo's eyes sums up the past two weeks of lambing season pretty well here at Meka Farm! So relieved it is over (although Hugo may not be at the moment)!

First lamb of the season! Thora gave birth around 7:30am to a little lamb that looks just Flóki (ram). Don’t know yet if male or female. Both mom and dad are Icelandic. What a great way to go into the vernal equinox 💚

Duck, duck, goose! Or chicken! The Egg Shed now has all three varieties! May I let you in on a little secret? Goose eggs make the BEST boiled eggs. Boil them twice as long as you would a chicken egg to get your fave boiled egg, then enjoy! So yum!!

I love when dinner tastes complicated and like it took a long time to make 😉

* Soy & Scallion Noodles from @momofukugoods (found at @monadnockcoop )

* dehydrated black trumpet mushrooms that were foraged locally by @erynnjos_art

* dehydrated green onions from our garden + caramelized onions and chopped celery (not from our garden 🤷‍♀️)

* duck stock, shredded duck and eggs from our farm

* garnished with Korean BBQ Sauce from @primalkitchenfoods

One of our freezers quit unexpectedly so this past weekend we were cooking what meats were still viable. I cut up a duck and cooked it with just water and ended up with moist shredded duck meat, skin to crisp, fat for frying and a delicious duck stock. In the fridge and ready to go!

All smoked products (bacon, ham & jowls) are naturally cured using salt and celery powder with no added nitrates.
Each share contains: pork roasts, ham, ham steaks, plain ground pork, bacon, ribs, tenderloin, pork chops (both bone-in and boneless), jowl, leaf lard and hocks; and our homemade sausage blends in NH Maple Breakfast and Thai Orange Ginger.
